The Science-Technology Interface Structural Biology acts as a link between technology, research and translation. It supports and connects structural biologists and those who are interested in structural biology with questions from the medical and clinical fields. The facility supports structural biology projects and ideas, provides assistance in finding the right technology / method, identifies and connects project partners and initiates new collaborations.
Relevant questions deal with the understanding of health / disease / aging on a molecular level and their underlying processes, such e.g. metabolic processes or signal transmission pathways. Rational drug design, screening of ligands, target validation, evaluation of the side effects of or resistance to substances / medications are other important areas of application. 3D reconstruction, modeling and visualization as well as the evaluation and interpretation of structural biological data can also be adopted or supported.
